At present, rapid COVID-19 antigen testing is being rolled out on a wide scale by the UK Government to aid the mass-testing effort. The Covid-19 Antigen Test has been Evaluated and Validated by the UK’s MHRA/DHSC: 1 of only 3 tests approved for use by schools, hospitals, and the army. The Antigen test kit is also used by the NHS in the UK.
The Rapid Antigen (COVID-19) test is intended for the quick detection of COVID-19 antigens. Antigen Test kit is one of only three UK Government assessed Rapid Antigen Tests.
The COVID-19 Antigen Test has been evaluated with specimens obtained from patients and the results show it has a high overall relative accuracy.
COVID-19 is an acute respiratory infectious disease that has killed over 128,000 people in the UK and infected over 4.49 milion others.
Despite the UK’s strong vaccination program, the pandemic is not over yet. Coronavirus cases are still spreading, particularly among asymptomatic people. According to the NHS, around one in every three people are asymptomatic, meaning that they have Coronavirus but do not display any symptoms.
To this end, the government is encouraging everyone who is eligible to order a lateral flow COVID 19 test kit. You can also take a private COVID test if you suspect that you have the virus. According to the World Health Organization, COVID-19 incubation period is 5-6 days on average, but this can go up to 14 days. Studies show that the virus is most infectious within 3 days of showing symptoms. The main symptoms of the disease include a new or continuous dry cough, a loss of taste or smell, fatigue, and a temperature or fever. During the acute phase of the COVID-19 infection, antigens are generally detectable in the upper respiratory tract in the nose and throat. Rapid diagnoses of COVID-19 will help healthcare professionals treat patients, control the virus, more importantly, save lives. The COVID-19 Test is used to diagnose SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. It detects the presence of Coronavirus proteins in a sample drawn from the surface of the posterior nasopharynx and gives results in as little as 15-30 minutes. This test requires health expertise to carry out and interpret results.
